A radioactive source that is sealed must not disperse nuclear substances. You are obligated to prove that this is the case.

Leak testing of sealed sources is a CNSC-regulated process. Testing is mandatory for all sealed sources over 50 MBq that are not gas. Our laboratory meets CNSC regulatory standards for all radionuclides. If you are a recurring Radioprotection client, you will receive your kit approximately one month before the one-year anniversary of your last leak test. We also offer full-service sampling on your premises.

  • Prescribed frequency (CNSC)
    • Sealed source used outside a radiation device: 6 months
    • Sealed source used in a radiation device: 12 months
    • Sealed source not in use: 24 months
